The third Augustinian Recollect Mission to the Philippines – consisting of fifteen Religious left Seville, Spain on the 18th July 1617. During their stop-over in Mexico City on their way to the Philippines the contemplative Discalced Carmelite nuns from San Jose Monastery gave the missionaries the serene image of the Virgen del Carmen. Continuing their journey from Acapulco and through the Pacific the expedition reached Manila in 1618.

And so in celebration of the 4th centenary of the arrival of her first image in our homeland the Philippines we endeavor the intensify our devotion and rally her devotees to give thanks and praise to God our Heavenly Father for all the blessings and graces received through her most powerful intercession.
